Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse faces yet another postponement.
The highly awaited Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse has been postponed again, though this time only slightly, as Sony has shifted its release from early June to late June 2027. Initially scheduled for June 4, 2027, the film has already faced a three-year delay due to the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, among other factors. It will now debut on June 25, 2027. This slight postponement is intended to maximize its audience, as schools will be out for summer break, enabling more young fans to visit theaters during the day. Additionally, it allows for a better international release and optimal IMAX screening opportunities, as noted by Spider-Verse producer Chris Miller.
The film will come four years after the sequel, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, which was initially marketed as ‘Part One’ with Beyond serving as ‘Part Two’. Across The Spider-Verse concluded with a significant cliffhanger, leaving Miles Morales trapped in another universe at the mercy of his seemingly evil counterpart, while Spider-Gwen is assembling their allies to rescue him and tackle The Spot before he dismantles the multiverse. Not too long ago, the first set of images from the film was released, which you can view here.
Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson are directing Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse, with a screenplay by Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and David Callaham. Voice actors Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld will reprise their roles for this Sony sequel.
Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse will be in theaters on June 25, 2027.
