The prequel series of Friday the 13th, titled Crystal Lake, explores the early years of Jason Voorhees.
Peacock's upcoming prequel series to Friday the 13th, titled Crystal Lake, has cast Callum Vinson (Chucky) as the young Jason Voorhees, joining Linda Cardellini. According to Deadline, details about the plot remain limited, but it will center on Jason's childhood and the events that preceded his 'death' as well as his mother’s initial killing spree in the original Friday the 13th, ultimately laying the foundation for Jason to transform into the franchise's famed hockey mask-wearing murderer.
Linda Cardellini is set to portray Pamela Voorhees, the franchise's original antagonist, characterized as “a mother who sacrificed a singing career to care for a special needs child and takes a dark path following her son's loss.”
Crystal Lake is the primary setting for most of the Friday the 13th films, notably including the summer camp Camp Crystal Lake, where Pamela held counselors responsible for Jason’s supposed demise and exacted revenge on many of them.
The series is created, written, showrun, and executive produced by Brad Caleb Kane. Additional cast members for the prequel include William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, Gwendolyn Sundstrom, Nick Cordileone, Joy Suprano, Danielle Kotch, and Phoenix Parnevik.
Crystal Lake is being developed by Peacock and A24, with a premiere slated for 2026.
