Marvel takes a meta approach with the Wonder Man trailer.
During its presentation at New York Comic Con this weekend, Marvel premiered a trailer for its upcoming Disney+ series, Wonder Man. Developed by Destin Daniel Cretton, director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, along with showrunner Andrew Guest (Hawkeye), the series adopts a meta perspective on the superhero film industry. It features Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, a struggling actor vying for a role in a remake of the superhero movie Wonder Man, alongside Trevor Slattery, played by the returning Ben Kingsley, who once starred as the Mandarin.
The cast of Wonder Man also includes Demetrius Grosse, Ed Harris, Arian Moayed, Lauren Glazier, Josh Gad, Bechir Sylvain, Dane Larsen, X Mayo, Byron Bowers, Zlatko Burić, and Olivia Thirlby. Below is a teaser, followed by the full trailer.
Aspiring Hollywood actor Simon Williams is having a hard time launching his career. During an unexpected encounter with Trevor Slattery, an actor whose most significant roles are likely in the past, Simon discovers that renowned director Von Kovak is revamping the superhero film “Wonder Man.” These two actors, positioned at different stages of their careers, relentlessly pursue potentially life-altering roles in the film, as viewers gain insight behind the scenes of the entertainment industry.
Marvel's Wonder Man is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on January 27, 2025.
