Highlander is slated for a cinematic re-release to celebrate its 40th anniversary, along with a new 4K Collector’s Edition.
In honor of the 40th anniversary of Highlander, StudioCanal has revealed plans for a theatrical re-release of Russell Mulcahy’s iconic 1986 action fantasy. The film will screen in selected UK cinemas starting May 4th, followed by the availability of a Collector’s Edition 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray box set, which will be released on June 29th. After miraculously surviving a fatal injury during a clan skirmish in the Scottish Highlands in 1536, Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) is blamed for witchcraft and exiled from his community. Years later, he encounters Ramirez (Sean Connery), a swordsman who reveals to MacLeod that he is part of an immortal race, destined to live until his head is severed from his body.
MacLeod battles through the ages until the time of The Gathering arrives, when the remaining immortals will unite to fight until only one is left. In the final confrontation set in 1980s New York City, only one can emerge victorious.
