The Master makes a comeback in The Worlds of Doctor Who – Dark Gallifrey: The Decayed Master.

A brand-new trilogy of audio dramas launches this July with The Worlds of Doctor Who – Dark Gallifrey: The Decayed Master. Featuring Geoffrey Beevers as the Master, this three-part story explores the Doctor's arch-nemesis in his most twisted and unsettling form – the Decayed Master.

Geoffrey Beevers first portrayed the Master in the 1981 Doctor Who television story The Keeper of Traken. Now, in his first audio adventures, he reprises his role as the cunning Time Lord on a vengeful journey that takes him from a Victorian countryside estate to the Venetian Republic, and eventually to medieval York.

The first part, set for release in July, sees the Master arrive at a picturesque and isolated country house during Christmas of 1896. Diana Blount has spent her entire life in this house, but with her father's passing, this Christmas marks her last in her childhood home. Her cousin Charlotte is also there for the holidays, but as they indulge in games and ghost stories, their amusement spirals out of control in the old, abandoned east wing of the mansion, where something is attempting to breach into the mortal world, accompanied by a Master to obey.

Part two, to be released in August, transports listeners to the canals and ballrooms of 18th-century Venice. In this setting, Lupo the mask-maker impresses the wealthy with his intricate brushwork. However, Lupo’s past is about to confront him, as a formidable foe from a distant planet utilizes the ancient, legendary ‘skiproads’ to wreak havoc on both Lupo and the city.

In the third part, arriving in September, Naava flees from the Master into the plague-ridden streets of York to alert her old friend Calix, the finest of the chronosurgeons, about the nightmare pursuing her. Nevertheless, something else is navigating these ancient pathways, leaving Naava with a singular hope to rectify the situation and evade the Master, despite him being hundreds of years in the future and listening for ghosts.

All three parts of The Worlds of Doctor Who – Dark Gallifrey: The Decayed Master can be pre-ordered for £8.99 for download or £10.99 for the download and a limited collector’s edition CD.
