New Commando comics provide an abundance of action and adventure.
Four new Commando comics are now available at newsagents (and through DC Thompson), offering readers fresh stories of action and adventure. This week’s lineup transports readers to the jungles of Burma, into the skies with fighter planes, and into battles against vengeful SS troops.
The latest issues include:
5983 (Home of Heroes): Iron Annie
After Leutnant Kurt Stahlmann foils an SS scheme to seize Soviet treasure, his next assignment to deliver supplies to the troops in Leningrad appears to be his final mission. The vengeful SS is determined to ensure his cherished Junkers Ju 52, Iron Annie, doesn't return home. Can Kurt survive their plans?
This issue showcases artwork by Jaume Forns, cover art by Neil Roberts, and is authored by Dominic Teague.
5984 (Gold): Mustang Patrol
Originally published in 1972 as issue 700, Mustang Patrol follows pilot Alan Blake. Renowned for his skill in downing Messerschmitts and effortlessly sinking E-boats, everything changes when his guns mistakenly fire on his own squadron leader. What led to this tragic mishap?
This classic tale is written by Brunt, illustrated by John Ridgway, and features cover art by Ian Kennedy.
5985 (For Action and Adventure): A Different Kind of Courage
Set in Burma in 1944, traumatized Private Henry Lovelock arrives at a Royal Artillery base deep in the jungle. Luckily, he is supported by a group of Gurkhas, led by the brave Bibek, who help him cope with his trauma. However, when the base is attacked by the Japanese and Bibek is captured, Henry must find the strength to rescue his friend from the merciless enemy.
Written by Ian Winterton, this issue includes art by Alberto Saichann and cover art by Neil Roberts.
5986 (Silver): The Squadron That Wouldn’t Die
Not every RAF unit begins with honor; some must overcome disgrace to forge their own path to glory amidst the dangers of enemy skies. This adventure recounts the story of such an RAF unit that fought for recognition, demonstrating that even after losing their planes, they still refused to be defeated.
This thrilling story from 1972 was first issued as number 632, written by McOwan, illustrated by Jose Maria Jorge, with cover art by Ian Kennedy.
