Two previous Ghostface murderers are making a comeback in Scream 7: Scott Foley and Matthew Lillard are back!

The seventh installment of Scream is shaping up to be an exhilarating film. With recent updates, it appears that the production has moved past its initial challenges and is now flourishing. One way Scream 7 maintains its freshness is by reintroducing beloved characters, including the Meek siblings and Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott. However, our final girl will now confront former adversaries.

Initially, it was revealed that Scott Foley would be returning to the franchise, reprising his role as Roman Bridger from Scream 3. Deadline reported this, mentioning that Foley would occupy a yet-to-be-disclosed role in this project led by Kevin Williamson. This news sparked excitement among Scream fans, marking the first time a Ghostface character has returned since the apparition of Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) had a brief appearance in Scream 5 and Scream 6.

The internet truly exploded when it was announced via Deadline that Matthew Lillard would also be returning. The actor, who featured in the original film, took to social media to confirm his comeback as Stu Macher, details of which can be found below. The manner in which these two characters will return remains a mystery, as both appeared to have met their demise in their respective films.

This seventh Scream film is directed by Kevin Williamson, the creator and screenwriter of the original 1996 film by Wes Craven. It is being produced by James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein of Project X Entertainment, who also produced the 2022 films Scream and Scream VI.

The cast also includes legacy members Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox, along with Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and newcomers Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, Anna Camp, Joel McHale, and Mark Consuelos. Scream 7 is currently in production and is scheduled for release on February 27, 2026.
