David Cronenberg's The Shrouds has released a new teaser trailer.

      Janus Films has released a new teaser trailer for David Cronenberg’s upcoming thriller, The Shrouds, featuring Vincent Cassel as a techno-entrepreneur grappling with the death of his wife. He creates a device that enables the grieving to observe the decay of their deceased loved ones.

      Cassel is joined in the cast by Diane Kruger, Guy Pearce, and Sandrine Holt; you can view the trailer below.

      In a hauntingly tranquil near-future, a techno-entrepreneur named Karsh (Vincent Cassel) has invented software that allows the bereaved to witness the slow decay of their deceased loved ones. As Karsh copes with the death of his wife (Diane Kruger) from cancer and becomes embroiled in a strange sexual relationship with his wife’s sister (also played by Kruger), a series of vandalized graves using his "shroud" technology threatens his business and leads him to uncover a potentially massive conspiracy. Written after the loss of the director’s wife, Cronenberg’s new film is a deeply personal exploration of grief, set against a noir-inspired dystopian backdrop filled with self-driving cars, data theft, and A.I. personal assistants. Maintaining Cronenberg’s signature blend of malevolence and humor, The Shrouds presents a clever and thought-provoking examination of the physical and digital realms, as well as mortality and eternity.

      The Shrouds is scheduled to be released on April 25th.
