Marvel reveals Kimono variant covers created by artist Peach Momoko.
Marvel Comics has revealed plans to honor its female superheroes this April with a collection of variant covers designed by renowned artist Peach Momoko. These covers will showcase the characters dressed in traditional Japanese outfits that represent their distinct abilities and backgrounds.
“I aimed for people to simply enjoy seeing the Marvel heroes in kimono as a stylish choice,” Momoko said. “I didn’t want to confine myself to just a traditional formal representation, so I made an effort to highlight the unique character of a superhero wearing the kimono in a more casual way. The overall look is uncomplicated, but I hope the wabi-sabi essence resonates on each cover.”
