Amy Adams will be tormented by Javier Bardem in the Cape Fear television series.

Amy Adams has agreed to be hunted by Javier Bardem’s Max Cady in Apple TV+’s forthcoming adaptation of Cape Fear for television. Nick Antosca (The Act, Brand New Cherry Flavor) is taking on the roles of writer, executive producer, and showrunner for this new interpretation of John D. MacDonald’s novel The Executioners, which inspired both the 1962 Cape Fear featuring Gregory Peck, Robert Mitchum, and Polly Bergen, as well as Martin Scorsese's 1991 remake starring Nick Nolte, Robert De Niro, and Jessica Lange.

The 10-episode limited series appears to stay true to the original material, with its synopsis stating: “A storm is approaching for happily married lawyers Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden when Max Cady (Bardem), a notorious murderer from their past, is released from prison.”

Amy Adams recently completed work on last year’s Nightbitch [see our review here], and her most recent TV appearance was in the HBO limited series Sharp Objects, which earned her nominations for both an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award.
