12 Unapologetic TV Shows That Have No Concerns About Offending You

These brazen TV shows clearly disregard whether you find their content offensive.

      **It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia**

This consistently humorous FX series revolves around the foolish owners of an extremely unsanitary Irish pub and addresses a wide range of uncomfortable subjects, including race, abuse, religion, and child beauty pageants. Which other sitcom has staged a (fake) baby funeral?

Viewers can’t seem to get enough: It is now the longest-running live-action sitcom on television, having recently surpassed *The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet*.

      **The Righteous Gemstones**

The Righteous Gemstones presents a clever narrative about a televangelist family shrouded in numerous secrets, blending sex, violence, and larger-than-life personalities in endlessly creative and surprising manners, while taking sharp jabs at the hypocrisy of many who advocate for the prosperity gospel.

The show elicits significant laughs through outrageous scenes, such as a recent one featuring a home invasion that escalates into a violent brawl, starting with a guitarist entertaining himself in bed.

Perhaps the most unexpected aspect of the series, featuring co-creator Danny McBride alongside an exceptional cast, is its apparent belief in God — as depicted when some divine force seemingly sent a plague of locusts to the Gemstones in Season 3.

      **Euphoria**

Another HBO production, *Euphoria* has generated shock since its inception due to its frank (and some consider exploitative) representations of teenage drug use and sexuality.

A 2022 article by The New York Times mentioned that many young fans admire the characters and storylines of the show but express disdain for its creator, Levinson, who has “written all 18 hourlong episodes and directed all but three of them.” Fans frequently criticize his portrayal of the characters on social media.

Levinson has described the show as deeply autobiographical: “I feel like I’m watching a version of myself navigating the world at a young age,” he said in a promotional clip when it premiered in 2019.

After catapulting Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi to stardom, the third season is set to return soon following a delay.

      **All in the Family**

Archie Bunker (Carroll O’Connor), a loudmouth and unapologetic bigot, was primarily offensive to those who didn’t grasp that the intention was to laugh at him, not with him.

The show’s message was evident: Creator Norman Lear, who passed away last year at 101, was one of Hollywood’s most vocal liberals, and sought to have Archie Bunker speak candidly to reveal the ignorance embedded in his narrow-minded beliefs. However, *All in the Family* also portrayed him as a vulnerable character open to change.

In one of its most memorable episodes, “Sammy’s Visit,” Archie meets Sammy Davis Jr., who, to his surprise, is both Black and Jewish. In a comedic twist, Davis gives Archie a kiss on the cheek, playfully breaking a multitude of bigoted taboos.

      **Married… With Children**

The show faced backlash due to its numerous raunchy jokes and risqué storylines, as well as Al Bundy’s (Ed O’Neill) lewd behavior and the portrayal of Peggy Bundy (Katey Segal) as lazy and self-absorbed.

Nonetheless, *Married… With Children* has aged remarkably well as a parody of overly sentimental sitcoms. It was fully aware of its intent and never attempted to garner sympathy for the Bundys — who coincidentally shared a name with a notorious serial killer.

      **The Simpsons**

*The Simpsons* premiered shortly after *Married… With Children* on the then-nascent Fox network. It continues to run, making it the longest-running sitcom.

The series ignited discussions on numerous topics — ranging from guns to drugs to politics — and notably presented gay characters in a positive light long before most TV shows did. It tends to offend more viewers on the right than the left and has never hesitated to poke fun at Fox News.

We suspect it might offend random restaurants the most with unexpected jabs, such as, “I’m so hungry I could eat at Arby’s!” (This joke is from Season 9’s “Das Bus.”)

We also appreciate how *The Simpsons* grants significant moments to lesser-known characters.

      **South Park**

When *South Park* chooses a target — whether it’s Kanye West, Harry and Megan, religious beliefs, or sex education in schools — everyone involved should prepare for fierce critique.

The show’s animation process is so efficient that creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone can quickly address divisive and contentious issues before other shows can even catch up. It has maintained its boldness since 1997.

      **Chappelle’s Show**

Dave Chappelle left no stereotype unchallenged in his brilliant sketches like “The Racial Draft,” where various races
