Magnolia Pictures and Magnet Releasing have released the trailer for their dystopian drama, The Assessment.

Directed by Fleur Fortuné, the film is set in the near future and follows a couple, played by Elizabeth Olsen and Himesh Patel, who must undergo an evaluation by the assessor, portrayed by Alicia Vikander, to determine their eligibility to have a child in a society where procreation is regulated. The cast also includes Charlotte Ritchie and Minnie Driver. You can view the trailer below...

"In a not-so-distant future where resources are limited and strictly monitored, the aspiration to have a child is not a certainty. Mia (Elizabeth Olsen) and Aaryan (Himesh Patel) are one of the few couples permitted to take a mysterious assessment to gain the right to have a child, having successfully passed a rigorous selection process. Eager to prove their worthiness, they confront their evaluator, Virginia (Alicia Vikander)—cold, unpredictable, and hard to decipher. Over the course of seven grueling days filled with challenges, Mia and Aaryan are pushed to their limits. The trials devolve into a psychological nightmare, compelling them to confront their deepest fears, destabilizing their relationship, and questioning what it truly means to be parents."

The Assessment will be released in theaters on March 21.
