Jason Statham is set to return for The Beekeeper 2, directed by Timo Tjahjanto.
The Beekeeper Hive is alive with excitement as the sequel is officially confirmed to feature Jason Statham. This week, it was revealed that Statham will headline The Beekeeper 2, a continuation of the 2024 film, which he will also produce under Punch Palace Productions.
Renowned indie filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto will take over the directing responsibilities from David Ayer. Tjahjanto is celebrated for his work on the 2016 action film Headshot, the 2018 movie The Night Comes for Us, and for co-directing and co-writing the V/H/S/2 segment Safe Haven alongside Gareth Evans. His next directing project is this year’s Nobody 2.
The Beekeeper earned an impressive $153 million at the worldwide box office and received favorable reviews [read our review here]. It developed a bit of a cult following online, attracting dedicated Statham fans to the film. The plot centers around a man (portrayed by Jason Statham) with a secretive history who seeks vengeance following a personal tragedy. He soon becomes entangled in a perilous game involving assassins and political conspiracies.
Miramax will produce and finance The Beekeeper 2, which is set to begin production in the fall. A release date has yet to be announced.
