Wolfs star Austin Abrams will be devoured in the diving thriller Whalefall.
Referred to as a blend of 127 Hours and The Martian when it was unveiled in 2023, the high-concept thriller Whalefall has secured its lead in Austin Abrams, known for his role in Wolfs. According to a report from Deadline, the breakout star from Euphoria will portray a teenage diver on a quest for his deceased father's remains, only to be unexpectedly swallowed by a 60-ton sperm whale, leaving him with just one hour of oxygen to escape.
The film, produced by 20th Century, is based on the novel of the same name by Daniel Kraus and will be directed by Brian Duffield, who gained acclaim for the alien invasion drama No One Will Save You, featuring Kaitlyn Dever.
Upcoming for Abrams is Weapons, the highly anticipated next film from Barbarian director Zach Cregger, slated for release on January 16, 2026.
