Warner Bros. has released the initial teaser trailer for All You Need Is Kill, the upcoming anime film directed by Kenichiro Akimoto, based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka's renowned light novel of the same title. This novel was previously adapted into the 2014 film Edge of Tomorrow, directed by Doug Liman, which featured a time-bending sci-fi action storyline. You can watch the trailer below.
Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s All You Need Is Kill is celebrated for its innovative time loop concept and compelling narrative about personal growth, significantly influencing the time loop sci-fi genre. Originally adapted into a successful global film, this iconic novel is now being transformed into an anime. STUDIO 4℃ will be responsible for the animation, combining traditional techniques with advanced visual technology.
After an unidentified extraterrestrial plant invasion, Rita finds herself stuck in a time loop, compelled to relive the same day repeatedly. With each iteration, she gains knowledge and hones her combat skills, becoming a skilled warrior. However, the relentless cycle of death and isolation begins to take its toll on her. Then she encounters Keiji, who reveals, “I’ve been repeating this day too.” Two souls, ensnared in an unending conflict. Could their encounter alter their destinies?
