Shudder has unveiled a poster and trailer for the Irish folk horror film Fréwaka, which will be available on the streaming platform next month.
Written and directed by Aislinn Clarke, the movie centers on Shoo (Clare Monnelly), a nursing student dealing with past trauma, who finds herself caring for an elderly patient haunted by her own memories from her time in a Catholic asylum.
The cast includes Monnelly, Bríd Ní Neachtain, and Aleksandra Bystrzhitskaya. You can watch the trailer below...
In the film, nursing student Shoo takes on a placement in a remote Irish village to care for Peig, a reclusive elderly woman living in fear due to her traumatic experiences in a Catholic asylum, only to discover that her own troubled past is resurfacing.
Fréwaka will be released on Shudder on April 25th.
