Nightmares and Visions are arriving in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide through a free update.
The newest free update, Nightmares and Visions, has been released for Fatshark’s Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. This update brings a new wave-based activity, a rework of the Ogryn Talent Tree, a limited-time event, enhancements to the end-game mode, and more. Check out the new trailer below for additional information about this update.
The Mortis Trials introduce a wave-based feature where players will battle through waves of enemies in visions created by the ship’s Psyker, Sefoni. Participants in these visions can develop new playstyles by choosing from random abilities and buffs that will be active throughout the trial. Before starting the trial, players will select an Indulgence that grants unique buffs to enhance combat. These include Pyrokinetic, Voltaic, and Fulminator for elemental damage, Death Dealer for close-quarters combat, and Colossus for increased survivability.
Each trial consists of 12 enemy waves, with objectives to complete every third wave. Successfully finishing a trial rewards players with a memory echo, granting access to information about the main characters on the Mourningstar.
Havoc mode has been updated to make progression clearer and more rewarding, allowing anyone participating in a mission to rank up if they meet the new criteria. Additionally, a rotation system for missions and mutators has been implemented to keep this challenging game mode fresh.
Four new mutators have also been added to Havoc mode:
- Heinous Rituals: disrupt heretics to stop them from summoning a new type of Daemonhost, or face the repercussions.
- The Encroaching Garden: specific enemies will heal their allies; find and eliminate them before they can regenerate the heretics.
- Rampaging Enemies: fallen foes will empower their allies, necessitating strategic planning to prevent being overwhelmed.
- Enraging Elites: wounded Elites will become enraged, increasing their attack and movement speed while becoming immune to crowd control effects.
The Ogryn Talent Tree has been revamped, allowing players to create more effective melee builds. Players can now develop stronger tank and support characters while also enhancing ranged capabilities. Melee builds are no longer confined to heavy attacks; they can now access both light and heavy strikes. Ranged players will experience a redesigned Burst Limiter, and tank players can explore more diverse playstyles. Additional talents for hybrid approaches reward those who utilize both melee and ranged combat, while movement and survivability have been enhanced, with dodging now staggering enemies.
Lastly, a new limited-time event called ‘A Day At The Theatre’ is now available. This event centers around the Mortis Trials, challenging players in the Psyker’s imaginative theater.
