Russ Meyer's Motorpsycho and Up! are being released on 4K Ultra HD by Severin Films.
Following the release of remastered 4K versions of Vixen, Supervixens, and Beneath the Valley of the Ultravixens [read our reviews here], Severin Films is now preparing another set of Russ Meyer’s Bosomania in UHD. Pre-orders are currently available for 1965’s Motorpsycho and 1976’s Up!, with both films set to be released on Dual Edition 4K and Blu-ray later this month; you can find the official details and promotional images here…
In Motorpsycho, a group of psychotic bikers embarks on a spree of sexual assaults and murders in a desert town. The local veterinarian, played by Alex Rocco (famous for THE GODFATHER in his debut role), teams up with a vengeance-driven vixen (the remarkable Haji in her first film appearance) to exact revenge. This “stylish, violent and well-crafted” (Variety) Meyers work features Steve Oliver (WEREWOLVES ON WHEELS), Lane Carroll (THE CRAZIES), Timothy Scott (THE FARMER), and Russ himself in supporting roles, newly scanned in 4K from the original negative restored by The Museum of Modern Art. It includes new and archival special features curated by Severin Films in collaboration with The Russ Meyer Trust.

In 1976, producer/director/cinematographer/editor Russ Meyer released his second-to-last feature, co-written with Pulitzer Prize winner and BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS screenwriter Roger Ebert. This film has been described as “jaw-droppingly perverse” (Entertainment Weekly), “Meyer at his most outrageous” (Images Journal), and “certainly not to be confused with the Pixar cartoon” (The Spinning Image): Enter a sexually charged town in Northern California where sodomized Führers, hungry piranhas, sapphic ecstasy, murder mysteries, Shakespearean references, and the extraordinary Raven De La Croix intermingle, with Kitten Natividad – making her debut in RM Productions – serving as The Greek Chorus. Janet Wood (THE CENTERFOLD GIRLS) co-stars in “one of Russ Meyer’s best films” (We Are Movie Geeks), now scanned in 4K from the original negative by Severin Films, complete with new and archival special features curated in conjunction with The Russ Meyer Trust.
Motorpsycho and Up! will be released on 4K Ultra HD on April 28th.
