Star Wars: Visions announces the premiere of Volume 3 and the spinoff series titled The Ninth Jedi.
During the Star Wars: Visions panel at Star Wars Celebration in Japan on Sunday, Lucasfilm revealed details about its animated anthology series, announcing that the third volume will debut on Disney+ in October. Additionally, a spinoff centered on the season one episode ‘The Ninth Jedi’ is in development.
Executive producer James Waugh shared that the upcoming third season will feature sequels or continuations for three shorts from season one, including ‘The Ninth Jedi’, along with ‘The Duel’ and ‘The Village Bride’. The narrative of ‘The Ninth Jedi’ will also carry on in its own spinoff series, which is the first under the new Star Wars: Visions Presents banner, aimed at giving Visions filmmakers a chance to delve into longer storytelling formats.
The ‘The Ninth Jedi’ episode, written and directed by Kenji Kamiyama (The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim) and produced by Production IG (Ghost in the Shell), is officially described as: “The daughter of a lightsaber-smith is pursued by dark forces while on a dangerous mission.”
Additionally, the first two volumes of Star Wars: Visions are currently available for streaming on Disney+, with volume three set to premiere on October 29th.
