MUBI’s lineup for May 2025 features Rooney Mara, Amalia Ulman, highlights from Latin America at Cannes, and more.

MUBI's selection for May 2025 has been unveiled, showcasing a double feature of Rooney Mara’s standout film (Carol) and her latest work (La cocina), alongside a selection of Latin American films featured at Cannes, plus a program curated by Amalia Ulman of Magic Farm.

Kent M. Wilhelm noted in his review of Magic Farm, “I was intrigued by the concept of satirizing opportunistic content creators masquerading as journalists, but integrating this into the narratives of the ensemble cast is a challenge for a second film. The storyline tends to become muddled; when there’s an overload of content, certain aspects fail to resonate. Nevertheless, there’s enjoyment to be found in Magic Farm; crucially, Ulman’s unique voice and vision linger with you after the film ends. It’s inspiring to witness a young director taking bold steps into new narrative and stylistic realms.”
