Takashi Miike Takes a Turn: Charli XCX to Star in New Film by Iconic Japanese Director

      Charli XCX and Takashi Miike form an unexpected pair in cinematic history, as Variety reports that Miike will helm a new film with Charli XCX producing and starring in it. The screenplay is being written by Ross Evans, known for How to Save a Marriage.

      The singer, who is transitioning into filmmaking, is producing under her new Studio365 label, the same company responsible for the upcoming A24 film, The Moment. Recently, Charli XCX has gained international acclaim with Brat, a pop music sensation, and has just concluded a notable appearance at Coachella and an extensive tour.

      As noted by Variety, her upcoming projects include ‘The Moment,’ where she will take on a leading role directed by Aidan Zamiri. Additionally, she will appear in Julia Jackman’s 100 Nights of Hero alongside Nicholas Galitzine and Emma Corrin. Charli is also involved in Daniel Goldhaber’s remake of Faces of Death and Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex, which stars Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman.

      For those unfamiliar, Miike has directed over 100 films since 1991, becoming renowned for works such as Audition, Ichi the Killer, Gozu, and 13 Assassins.
