Guy Ritchie has officially been announced as the director of Road House 2.
As previously noted, renowned filmmaker Guy Ritchie expressed interest in the exciting action of Road House 2, and Deadline has now confirmed his involvement. The outlet reports that Ritchie has agreed to direct the sequel for Amazon MGM Studios, stepping in for Doug Liman, who departed over a disagreement with the studio.
Jake Gyllenhaal, the star of Road House, is set to return as Dalton. Will Beall is said to be writing the script for the sequel, while specific plot details remain confidential.
Charles Roven and Alex Gartner are on board as producers for Atlas Entertainment, along with Gyllenhaal and Josh McLaughlin from Nine Stories Productions. Ivan Atkinson will serve as executive producer.
The 2024 remake of Road House, directed by Liman and featuring Jake Gyllenhaal, was immensely successful. Within its first two weekends on Amazon Prime Video, it garnered 50 million global viewers, making it the most-watched debut for Amazon MGM Studios.
Ritchie has been quite active in 2025, having launched the new Tom Hardy-led series MobLand and awaiting the release of Fountain of Youth on Apple TV+ [watch the trailer here], as well as In the Grey, which features a collaboration with Gyllenhaal, Henry Cavill, and Eiza González.
