Sally Trailer: Sundance Award Winner Portrays the Life of a Trailblazing Astronaut
Cristina Costantini's film Sally, which won the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Feature Film Prize at this year's Sundance Film Festival, explores the life of Sally Ride, the first American woman to journey into space, along with the challenges she faced in both her public and private life. The film is set to premiere on National Geographic on June 16 and will be available for streaming on Disney+ and Hulu starting June 17. National Geographic Documentary Films has unveiled the first trailer.
The synopsis reads: “Sally Ride became the first American woman to launch into space, but beneath her calm exterior lay a hidden truth. For the first time, Sally’s life partner, Tam O’Shaughnessy, shares the full story of their 27 years together, including the romance and sacrifices involved. The film also features interviews with tennis legend and close friend of Ride, Billie Jean King; Sally’s sister, Bear Ride; and her mother, Carol Joyce Ride, as well as other members of NASA’s 1978 class: Anna Fisher, Kathy Sullivan, John Fabian, and Steve Hawley."
