Star Wars: Tales from the Nightlands presents a trio of chilling stories from a galaxy far, far away.

Dark Horse Comics has revealed that writer Cavan Scott (Star Wars: Tales from Vader’s Castle) is preparing to deliver more thrills from the galaxy far, far away just in time for Halloween 2025 with the horror-themed three-issue limited series, Star Wars: Tales from the Nightlands.

“Since 2018, I’ve explored Vader’s Castle, faced the Rancor Pit, and even set foot on the Death Star,” said Scott. “But nothing could have prepared me for the Nightlands! It’s a genuine privilege to introduce an entirely new spooky holiday to the galaxy far, far away. After all, why should Life Day get all the excitement? Star Wars warrants its own scary season too! This time, we’re sharing three terrifying tales that cover the entire Skywalker Saga—prequels, original trilogy, and sequels. It has been a true delight to revisit Obi-Wan, Anakin, Luke, Leia, Rey, and Finn and thrust them into living nightmares. And watch out for the Nightlander. Created by Star Wars legend Iain McCaig, she’s stunning, menacing... and coming straight for you!”

“Dark Horse has a rich history of publishing some of the finest horror stories in comics,” added Lucasfilm Publishing Creative Director Michael Siglain. “We’re thrilled to continue our collaboration with them to share more haunting tales set in a galaxy far, far away. We have a stellar lineup of contributors, once again led by 'Count' Cavan Scott. His latest spine-chilling work weaves together fear, despair, dread, and perhaps a hint of hope. Having Cav’s new Nightlander character designed by Iain McCaig—the genius behind Darth Maul’s iconic look—has been a dream realized. And if that wasn’t enough, we’re fortunate to be joined by Francesco Francavilla, Soo Lee, Vincenzo Riccardi, and Robert Hack, all masters of their eerie craft. Their creations are lush, haunting, and beautiful. Star Wars fans—and horror enthusiasts—are in for a real treat.”

“To be able to reimagine characters envisioned by Iain McCaig is a privilege, and collaborating with Cavan Scott once again is always a thrill,” said Lee. “He has the perfect vision for this chilling universe. My favorite duo, Obi-Wan and Anakin, encountering terrifying cosmic entities is precisely the kind of story I’ve been eager to tell in Star Wars!”

On the planet Ryloth, Twi’leks speak softly about the Nightlands, a spectral realm where their spirits retreat after death. Legends say that on certain nights, the barrier between that haunted domain and the living world is so thin that communication with the other side is possible.

Enter: The Nightlander, a Star Wars boogeyman who aims to possess a powerful living host and spread despair throughout the galaxy!

Each issue focuses on one of three generations of galactic heroes confronting the malevolent Nightlander. Issue #1 features young Padawan Anakin Skywalker visiting Ryloth alongside Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, trying to summon the ghost of Qui-Gon Jinn for a final farewell. However, when Anakin reaches out to the Nightlands, it’s not his old friend who responds! Issue #2 presents Luke and Leia facing this horror, while Issue #3 sees Rey and Finn confronting a dark force unlike any other in the galaxy.

Star Wars: Tales from the Nightlands #1 is set to release on September 3rd.
