11 Actors Who Have Changed Political Allegiances
Here are 11 actors who have changed their political affiliations during their careers.
**Rob Schneider**
Rob Schneider departed from the Democratic Party in 2013, stating to The Blaze: “California is in chaos, and the overwhelming majority of Democrats isn’t effective. I’ve always been a Democrat, but I need to switch because it’s not serving the residents of this wonderful state anymore.”
In 2017, he informed Larry King that he identified as “an independent, but definitely more conservative. … I oppose any attempts to strip people of their rights.” He noted that the right-wing was once more prone to infringe on rights, but now that issue lies with liberals.
Last June, he endorsed Robert Kennedy Jr., who was competing against President Biden in the Democratic primaries. After Kennedy announced he would run as an independent, Schneider continued to support him, participating in an event titled A Night of Laughter with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
When Kennedy suspended his campaign in August and backed Trump, Schneider also endorsed Trump.
“As a fellow American citizen and Robert Kennedy Jr. supporter, I urge you to OPPOSE TYRANNY and join us in VOTING FOR DONALD J. TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES,” Schneider posted on X.
**James Woods**
James Woods, known for films like Videodrome and Casino, tweeted that he was a Democrat “for years, until Clinton was impeached. Every single Democrat stood behind a convicted perjurer. That was the end for me.”
He is now a prominent Hollywood conservative and has been vocal about his criticism of Kamala Harris after she took Biden’s place as the Democrats’ presidential nominee.
**Ronald Reagan**
Yes, even Ronald Reagan changed parties. He once regarded Democratic president Franklin D. Roosevelt as a “true hero” and supported Democrat Harry S. Truman during the 1948 presidential election.
However, he backed the Republican presidential bid of Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1952 and supported Ike’s vice president, Richard Nixon, in 1960.
That’s him pictured above in the 1940 film Knute Rockne, All American.
**Lindsay Lohan**
The Mean Girls actress has frequently fluctuated in her political views. During the 2008 presidential election, she offered her assistance to Democrat Barack Obama’s campaign, which was declined. Later, she blogged against Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, criticizing her environmental stance and labeling her a “narrow minded, media obsessed homophobe.”
However, she supported Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in 2012, then tweeted supportive messages for President Obama. In 2017, she urged her Twitter followers to ease up on President Trump, encouraging them to “Stop bullying him and start trusting him.”
Interestingly, in 2004, Trump remarked to Howard Stern that Lohan, then 18, was “probably deeply troubled and therefore great in bed. How come the deeply troubled women, you know, deeply, deeply troubled, they’re always the best in bed?”
In any case, that’s Lohan pictured above in Netflix’s Falling for Christmas. Recently, she has steered clear of political discussions.
**Isaiah Washington**
Former Grey’s Anatomy actor Isaiah Washington discussed his choice to “walk away” from the Democratic Party in a 2019 interview, stating his support for President Trump.
“Walking away... involves sacrifice, it’s a risk, and there’s a cost to it,” Washington shared on Fox Nation’s “Nuff Said,” adding, “The reason I’ve decided to leave the Democratic Party as I see it... is that something feels off.”
He further explained, “I don’t know where I’m heading, but I know where I’ve been. Looking at the Democratic Party’s political impact over the past 50 years since I was 5, very little has changed for my community—this raises a lot of questions for me.”
**Chuck Norris**
Chuck Norris mentioned in a 2014 interview that he “used to be a Democrat, but unfortunately the Democrats went far too left,” asserting, “What Democrats stood for 40 years ago, Republicans now believe. … The Democrats have strayed too far off course.”
Norris currently endorses Republican candidates and writes a regular column for right-wing WorldNetDaily.
Before the Biden-Trump debate in June, he provided a balanced analysis likening the debate to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and urged both candidates to avoid overconfidence.
That’s him shown above supporting the troops.
**Robert Duvall**
The Lonesome Dove and Godfather star has been a steadfast conservative, although in a 2014 interview he indicated he would “probably vote Independent next time” and noted that “the Republican Party is a mess.”
He remarked: “I think Jack Kerouac once said, ‘Don’t criticize my country. My ancestors are immigrants, so I believe in this country despite its flaws. It’s a vast
