Exclusive Teaser for Militantropos Heading to Cannes Highlights the Human Element of the Ukraine Conflict
One of the documentaries we are particularly excited about at the Cannes Film Festival is Militantropos, directed by Alina Gorlova, Simon Mozgovyi, and Yelizaveta Smit, which will premiere in the Directors’ Fortnight section. The film examines the human condition amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and we are thrilled to exclusively present the first teaser trailer prior to its world premiere.
Here’s the synopsis: “MILITANTROPOS portrays the human experience through the shattered realities resulting from the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The film intertwines the lives altered by war — those who escape, those who lose everything, and those who choose to stay and resist — highlighting both the instinct for survival and the desire for connection. In the midst of destruction and cruelty, humanity becomes entwined with war, which in turn becomes an integral part of the human experience.”
“Our group began filming in response to the very first day of the full-scale invasion,” stated producer Eugene Rachkovsky of Tabor when speaking to Variety. “Having collaborated for 11 years and lived through the war together, it felt only natural to create a collective record of this period and to investigate war as a phenomenon.”
