The Buffy reboot introduces a new Slayer portrayed by Ryan Kiera Armstrong from Skeleton Crew.
“In each generation, there exists a chosen one. She alone will confront the vampires, demons, and forces of darkness. She is the Slayer.” In the case of Hulu's upcoming Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, that honor has been given to Ryan Kiera Armstrong from Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.
According to a report from Deadline, Armstrong is set to portray a new Slayer alongside the original vampire slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who will be reprising her legendary role as Buffy Summers in the untitled series.
Chloé Zhao, an Academy Award-winning director known for Nomadland and Eternals, is directing the pilot, with the script written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman (of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Poker Face) for 20th Television and Searchlight TV. In addition to her acting role in the pilot, Gellar will also serve as an executive producer for the show.
Details regarding what will happen in Sunnydale remain limited, but Armstrong, who garnered praise for her performance in Skeleton Crew and led the 2022 remake of Firestarter, is characterized as an introverted high school student. A video of Gellar sharing the news with the new Slayer was shared on Instagram (see below).
