Rina Sawayama becomes part of Prodigies on Apple TV+.
Apple TV+’s forthcoming romantic comedy series *Prodigies* has cast Rina Sawayama, known for her role in *John Wick: Chapter 4*, to join the leads Ayo Edebiri and Will Sharpe, as reported by Deadline.
*Prodigies* follows Didi (Edebiri) and Ren (Sharpe), two former child prodigies who have been in a relationship since childhood. Now in their early 30s, they begin to question if their seemingly ordinary lives live up to the extraordinary potential they once had. This leads them to reflect on their relationship as well. As their personal aspirations and needs intertwine and sometimes clash with their shared life, the series explores the misconception central to romantic narratives—that the story concludes once the characters unite. In reality, this is merely the beginning.
Sawayama will portray Hana, Ren’s sister, in a recurring role.
*Prodigies* is created, written, and executive produced by Sharpe, with Edebiri also serving as an executive producer alongside Jane Featherstone, Naomi de Pear, and Katie Carpenter, who will produce for Sister.
Sawayama is set to return to the *John Wick* franchise as Lionsgate enhances its action thriller series with this summer's *Ballerina*. She will reprise her character Shimazu Akira in a spin-off featuring Donnie Yen’s assassin Caine as she seeks to avenge her father's death at his hands.
