Dune 3 features the children of Paul Atreides and Chani.

      Denis Villeneuve is preparing to return to Arrakis with Dune 3 and has announced two key casting choices. Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke (Silo) will portray the twin children of Paul Atreides and Chani.

      Momoa will join his father, Jason Momoa, in the film; Jason will reprise his role as a resurrected ghola of Duncan Idaho, Paul’s devoted bodyguard and friend. This marks the acting debut for the younger Momoa, who will play Leto II, while Brooke will take on the role of Ghanima, the twins and heirs to Paul and Chani's Fremen empire.

      The twins are introduced in Frank Herbert’s sequel, Dune Messiah, which occurs 12 years after Paul Atreides has overthrown his enemies and claimed the imperial throne, igniting a holy war across the galaxy as his Fremen followers fight to secure his reign as the Lisan al-Gaib.

      While Dune 3 has yet to receive an official title, it will bring back Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and Jason Momoa from the previous two Dune films. Other returning cast members have not been disclosed, although Robert Pattinson (The Batman) began talks earlier this year to portray the villain Scytale, a Tleilaxu Face Dancer involved in the conspiracy against Paul Atreides' rule.

      Villeneuve's Dune films have been quite successful for Warner Bros. and Legendary, collectively grossing over one billion dollars and receiving multiple Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, with several wins predominantly in technical categories. In addition to the upcoming film, the prequel HBO series Dune: Prophecy, which premiered last year, has been renewed for a second season.

      Production for Dune 3 is set to commence this year, targeting a release date of December 18, 2026.
