      Apple TV+’s legal drama thriller, *Presumed Innocent*, is transitioning into an anthology series. The first season starred Jake Gyllenhaal, and the second season will feature Rachel Brosnahan, known for her roles in *Superman* and *The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel*, as the lead.

      Season two of *Presumed Innocent* will draw inspiration from Jo Murray’s debut novel, *Dissection of a Murder*, which is set to release next year. In this adaptation, Brosnahan will portray young attorney Leila Reynolds as she takes on her first murder case. The book’s synopsis describes the situation:

      When Leila Reynolds receives her first murder case, she is taken aback by its high-profile nature: the murder of a respected and well-known judge. It’s a case far beyond her level of experience. However, the defendant, Jack Millman, insists that she represent him and refuses to speak to anyone else. How can she establish her credibility in a case that seems impossible to win?

      Brosnahan is recognized for her performances in *House of Cards* and as Miriam ‘Midge’ Maisel in the acclaimed Amazon comedy series. She will also portray the fearless Daily Planet reporter and Superman’s romantic interest, Lois Lane, in James Gunn’s upcoming *Superman*, alongside David Corenswet.

      *Presumed Innocent* was developed by David E. Kelley and J.J. Abrams through their David E. Kelley Productions, Bad Robot, and Warner Bros. Discovery. Kelley will return as showrunner for the second season, collaborating with Erica Lipez. Brosnahan is also set to be an executive producer alongside Gyllenhaal and Scott Turow, author of *Presumed Innocent*.

      The inaugural season was based on Turow's 1987 novel, *Presumed Innocent*, featuring Gyllenhaal as Rusty Sabich, a prosecutor who becomes the main suspect in the murder of a woman with whom he had an affair. The book was previously adapted into a 1990 film starring Harrison Ford.
