The Phantom's Nest update is now available for Starship Troopers: Extermination.
Attention, citizens! The Bug war is intensifying once more as developer Offworld and publisher Knights Peak have just launched Patch 1.5, named Phantom’s Nest, for Starship Troopers: Extermination. This update introduces a flurry of new features to the growing co-op shooter. Would you like to learn more?
The newest update enhances the 16-player Hive Hunt mode with an exciting new “Escort the Nuke” mission that amplifies the tension and chaos in true Starship Troopers style. Additionally, the horde mode has been rebalanced, moving from a system based on the number of Bugs eliminated to a timed progression, which aims to create a more strategic gameplay experience and reduce grinding.
One of the key highlights is the new Morita II, a powerful assault rifle featuring an optional plasma launcher attachment that delivers strong firepower against the Arachnids. There are also fresh mods available for the Morita XXX and the TW-2-R Sp.L.I.T Shotgun, providing players with more customization options for their weaponry.
In addition to new weaponry, Phantom’s Nest offers quality-of-life improvements, balance adjustments, and significant updates to the Galactic War mode, paving the way for future developments.
The upcoming update (version 1.6), set to release this August, promises even more substantial changes. A completely new Bug Spawning System is coming to alter every match, along with the first new game mode since Hive Hunt, where squads will venture to Valaka and Agni Prime to secure a mysterious new resource called Archnigeon. First uncovered on Boreas, this material could shift the tide of the war, provided players can acquire it ahead of the Bugs.
Starship Troopers: Extermination is consistently evolving, and with each update, Offworld is immersing itself further in the franchise’s intricate sci-fi universe. Whether you’re a veteran Trooper or a newcomer, there’s no better time to join the fight.
Starship Troopers: Extermination is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Offworld shop.
