Bruce Wayne resumes his role as Gotham City’s protector, Batman! The Knightfall Saga comes to an end as Bruce makes his return to Gotham City! A new chapter begins as Batman transforms himself to face a new kind of adversary. When the Bat-Family declares war on former KGB operatives aiming to dominate Gotham City's underworld, who will emerge victorious? Amidst all this, Bruce Wayne must also deal with his choice to hand over the Batman mantle to Jean-Paul Valley.

Before the Flashpoint event, Jean-Paul Valley's encounter with his dying father dressed as Azrael dramatically altered his life. Manipulated by the System to become the Church of St. Dumas’ assassin, Jean-Paul instead allied with Batman, taking the Dark Knight’s place when Bane broke his back.
Disturbed by his past, Valley adopted a more aggressive style as Batman and wore heavier armor. He eventually relinquished the role to a recovering Bruce Wayne and embarked on his own journeys as Azrael.

Luke Fox never planned to join his father, Lucius Fox, in a career at Wayne Industries. Amid constant disagreements with his father, Luke trained in martial arts and participated in numerous mixed martial arts competitions. His intelligence, determination, and fighting skills eventually caught Batman’s eye, leading the Dark Knight to offer Luke a position as one of his agents after the original Batwing, David Zavimbe, retired.
