James Cameron Unveils First Trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash
The master of blockbusters, James Cameron, returns this winter with the newest chapter of his Avatar series. The third film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, introduces David Thewlis and Oona Chaplin alongside the established cast of Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Britain Dalton, Trinity Bliss, Jack Champion, Bailey Bass, and Kate Winslet. As we approach the December 19 release, the first trailer has now been unveiled.
Cameron recently shared his thoughts with Deadline regarding the franchise and his aspirations to adapt Charles Pellegrino’s book Ghosts of Hiroshima, expressing, “We’re releasing the next one on December 19th, and then we’ll see. I’ve got the scripts ready, and we’ve created preliminary designs for four and five, so we’re prepared to move forward. However, audience preferences change, and perhaps the film won't align perfectly with their expectations. Who knows? We’ll discover that. We always learn the hard way.”
Commenting on Hiroshima, he stated, “Just look at the ongoing hostility that has persisted for decades between Israel and Palestine. Consider the longstanding tension between the U.S. and Iran. Observe the current global situation with Russia. The doomsday clock continues to tick closer to midnight. Nuclear conflict isn’t on our radar right now; it’s not at the forefront of our concerns. We struggle to fully comprehend it and often remain in denial. I want to create a film that serves as a reminder of the devastation these weapons inflict on people, and how completely unacceptable it is to even consider their use. I believe Trump is the first president to whimsically propose, ‘My button's bigger than your button,’ directed at Kim Jong Un. I’m like, what? Are you serious? You can't say that! It’s outrageous.”
