Apple TV+ is set to adapt Nancy Meyers' film The Holiday into a limited series.
What’s the best approach for a beloved seasonal romantic comedy that has been treasured by generations of movie enthusiasts? If you're Apple TV+, the answer is to adapt it into a limited series.
As reported by Deadline, that’s precisely what the streaming service plans to do with Nancy Meyers’ The Holiday. The 2006 classic features Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Jack Black as two couples who embark on a house-swap across the Atlantic and discover love along the way.
The limited series is being penned and executive produced by Krissie Ducker (Sweetpea), with Rob Delaney (Catastrophe) serving in a consultancy capacity. As of this moment, Nancy Meyers is not involved in the project.
The purpose of this small-screen adaptation of The Holiday is to utilize the film's premise, but with entirely new characters.
Released in December 2006, The Holiday was a commercial hit, earning over $200 million globally and continues to be a staple in repertory cinema schedules, film-and-concert screenings, and is regularly featured on TVs around the world during the holiday season.
