Initial information about DC's My Adventures with Green Lantern has been disclosed.
Earlier this year, DC Studios and Adult Swim revealed that they were producing a spin-off of the animated series *My Adventures with Superman* centered on the Green Lanterns. Titled *My Adventures with Green Lantern*, we now have the first details about the upcoming show and the Lantern it will spotlight.
As reported by Nexus Point News, *My Adventures with Green Lantern* is expected to focus on teenaged Jessica Cruz, one of the newer Green Lanterns in the comics, who is selected to wield the Green Lantern ring. However, in contrast to the comics, the Green Lanterns will be depicted as “peace-keeping warrior monks” rather than an intergalactic police force that is nearing extinction.
Jessica Cruz is portrayed as having a typical childhood spent playing softball and socializing with her friends Kyle and Nikki, until the onset of puberty leads to bullying, resulting in her developing chronic anxiety as she starts attending Hal Jordan High School in Coast City. The series will also feature Green Lantern characters Kyle Rayner, who is anticipated to be Jessica’s romantic interest, along with Nikki Jones and Alex DeWitt. Alex is notably known for the term ‘fridging’ due to her murder, in which her body was placed in a fridge, affecting Kyle emotionally.
There is no current description for Kyle Rayner, but Nikki is characterized as “an overly confident, goth high schooler who disregards the opinions of others. She is Jessica’s lifelong best friend and is often overly protective of her,” while Alex is described as “the popular girl at school, a softball star, and the daughter of politicians.”
While Hal Jordan’s situation remains unspecified, other than being the namesake of their school, the series will feature the beloved Lantern Kilowog, who becomes Jessica’s mentor after an incident from his past results in the downfall of the Green Lantern Corps, leaving him as the last surviving member.
*My Adventures with Green Lantern* will exist within the same continuity as *My Adventures with Superman*, which tracks a younger Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen as Clark transforms into Superman and defends Metropolis from various threats. The third season of the original series is expected to premiere in 2025, while the release window for *My Adventures with Green Lantern* is still not determined.
This announcement marks the latest addition to the Green Lantern animated series, and fans of these cosmic defenders can also look forward to live-action projects. James Gunn’s *Superman* featured Nathan Fillion as Lantern Guy Gardner, and the upcoming HBO Max series *Lanterns* will star Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler as John Stewart and Hal Jordan, with Fillion reprising his role as Guy.
