Hammer Films is releasing The Curse of Frankenstein in 4K Ultra HD.
It’s the film that established Hammer Horror, making international stars out of future genre legends Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. The 1957 release, The Curse of Frankenstein, is now set to make its debut on 4K Ultra HD as the latest limited edition offering from Hammer Films.
This deluxe six-disc boxset is scheduled to arrive in October and includes a newly restored version of the Terence Fisher-directed film, along with a variety of special features and physical extras. Released in 1957, The Curse of Frankenstein marked Hammer’s first color horror film, presenting a bold and brutal reimagining of the Frankenstein tale. This film also showcased Cushing and Lee together for the first time, forging a legendary acting duo. Cushing’s chilling portrayal of the Baron and Lee’s tragic Creature redefined the genre, sparking a franchise and establishing Hammer’s distinctive gothic style that transformed horror filmmaking forever.
This edition represents the film’s worldwide 4K UHD debut, featuring a meticulous restoration from the best surviving materials, remastered for incredible picture quality, along with a brand-new 5.1 surround mix and original mono audio options.
The six-disc set contains the longest existing version of this classic gothic horror, including the infamous “eyeball” scene. The sixth disc is exclusive to this box set. Coupled with exclusive documentaries, expert commentaries, rare archival content, a feature-length archive documentary, and deluxe printed extras, this is the ultimate collector's edition of a horror classic.
The 6-disc 4K UHD & Blu-ray set includes a premium digipak housing two UHDs and four Blu-rays, featuring:
