Marvel unveils the official prequel comic for Predator: Badlands.
Director Dan Trachtenberg, known for Prey and Predator: Killer of Killers, is set to return to the Yautja universe in November with the highly anticipated Predator: Badlands. To celebrate this release, Marvel Comics has announced an official tie-in prelude comic written by Ethan Sacks and illustrated by Elvin Ching.
“Badlands is the first Predator film that draws so much inspiration from the comic books,” Trachtenberg remarks, highlighting his close collaboration with the creators on the standalone comic. “It brings me great joy to share splashes from the creative talents of Ethan and Elvin, depicting a significant adventure for our characters that perfectly complements the film. Seeing Dek in action in his own comic book is like a dream realized.”
“As a lifelong fan of the Predator franchise, there’s no greater thrill than the opportunity to hunt alongside the Yautja,” Sacks adds. “By collaborating closely with the team behind Predator: Badlands, we ensured this prequel story integrates seamlessly into the cinematic saga. Fans can expect a richer, more immersive experience, especially with Elvin Ching’s artwork on display.”
In the one-shot comic, a young Yautja warrior is assigned what seems to be an easy task by his father: to retrieve a piece of technology from a long-ago crashed spaceship. However, within the wreckage lurks an ancient and lethal threat.
Set to premiere on November 7th, 2025, Predator: Badlands features Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi. The story unfolds in the future on a distant planet, where an outcast young Predator (Schuster-Koloamatangi) teams up with Thia (Fanning) and embarks on a perilous quest to confront the ultimate foe. The Marvel comic prelude will be released shortly after on November 12th.
