Netflix has unveiled the initial trailer for Monster: The Ed Gein Story, the third installment in the crime drama anthology series created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan.

Charlie Hunnam stars as Ed Gein, the sadistic murderer whose gruesome acts in his dilapidated home in rural Wisconsin during the 1950s inspired a plethora of iconic Hollywood horror films over the years.

In addition to Hunnam, the cast includes Suzanna Son as Adeline Watkins, Tom Hollander as Alfred Hitchcock, Laurie Metcalf as Augusta Gein, Vicky Krieps as Ilse Koch, Olivia Williams as Alma Reville, Joey Pollari as Anthony Perkins, Tyler Jacob Moore as Sheriff Schley, Charlie Hall as Deputy Worden, Will Brill as Tobe Hooper, Mimi Kennedy as Dr. Mildred Newman, Robin Weigert as Enid Watkins, and Lesley Manville as Bernice Worden. You can watch the trailer below…

In the frozen landscapes of 1950s rural Wisconsin, a friendly and mild-mannered recluse named Eddie Gein quietly resided on a declining farm, concealing a nightmarish house of horrors so appalling it would transform the concept of the American nightmare. Driven by solitude, psychosis, and an overwhelming obsession with his mother, Gein’s twisted actions spawned a new type of monster that would haunt Hollywood for years to come. From Psycho to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to The Silence of the Lambs, Gein’s grim legacy has created fictional monsters derived from him and sparked a cultural fascination with the criminally deviant. Ed Gein didn’t just impact a genre; he established the template for contemporary horror.

Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s pioneering anthology series returns with its third and most unsettling installment yet. Monster: The Ed Gein Story depicts how one ordinary man in Plainfield, Wisconsin, became history’s most infamous ghoul. It revealed a horrific truth — that monsters are not born; they are created… by us.

Monster: The Ed Gein Story premieres on Netflix on October 3rd.
