Bungie announces a Destiny 2 expansion influenced by Star Wars.
During a recent livestream, Bungie provided viewers with their first look at the upcoming Destiny 2 expansion, Renegades, which is scheduled for release on December 2. Drawing inspiration from the legendary Star Wars universe, Renegades combines Destiny's storytelling with themes and elements from this iconic sci-fi franchise. A new ViDoc was unveiled during the stream (see below), showcasing some of the fresh content that will accompany the expansion.
The new ViDoc, titled Infiltrating the Lawless Frontier, emphasizes some of the exciting upcoming content, such as the new Lawless Frontier game mode, new characters, and a new social hub called Tharsis Outpost.
In the Lawless Frontier, Guardians will undertake high-stakes contracts that involve smuggling, bounty hunting, and sabotage, all aimed at building their reputation with dubious Syndicate factions through the Notoriety system. Players will engage in missions across three planets and six maps inspired by famous Star Wars locations and will be able to unlock upgradeable Renegade abilities specific to the Lawless Frontier, along with earning new weapons and equipment, which includes the introduction of a new weapon archetype, the Blaster.
Destiny 2: Renegades is available for pre-order now and is also included in the Year of Prophecy Ultimate Edition. Those who pre-order through this edition will unlock exclusive rewards such as the Renegade Leader Exotic ship, the Starside Introduction emblem, and much more.
The game’s first major update, Ash & Iron, is also available. This update (accessible to all players) takes Guardians back to the Plaguelands to explore Maya Sundaresh’s experiments. Players can earn new rewards by participating in a new three-player Fireteam Ops activity called Reclaim, as well as benefit from a new Rewards Pass featuring 110 ranks of additional rewards. On September 27, the Epic raid for The Desert Perpetual will also launch.
On October 7, a new Exotic mission will challenge players to face Maya Sundaresh’s Vex and Cabal forces while uncovering new secrets. Additionally, the annual Festival of the Lost event returns on October 21, bringing more weapon holofoils and masks for Guardians to use while pursuing spooky rewards.
Pre-order Destiny 2: Renegades and join the excitement in the Ash & Iron update today.
