Comedy Central Cancels South Park Episode Featuring Charlie Kirk Following His Death
Comedy Central has removed an episode that satirizes Charlie Kirk following the conservative activist's fatal shooting at a university event in Utah.
The second episode of the current season of South Park, Season 27, titled “Got a Nut,” features Eric Cartman mimicking Kirk during a call-in show where he engages in debates with callers.
This was a reference to Kirk's practice of debating anyone, particularly liberal college students, to promote his pro-Trump stance.
Kirk reacted positively to the episode, stating in a Fox News interview that he saw it as a “badge of honor” to be parodied on a show he had admired since childhood. He also mentioned on X that he would change his profile picture to show Cartman impersonating him.
Before the episode aired, Kirk expressed in an interview with Fox News that being featured in a parody on a show he grew up watching was a “badge of honor.” He shared on X that he would update his profile picture to that of the Cartman parody set in a black T-shirt.
In the episode, Cartman refers to himself as the “master debator” (say it quickly) while quoting Bible verses to engage unsuspecting young people. At one point, when his mother tells him to leave the bathroom, he responds, "I can’t mom. I’m master debating with these young college girls."
South Park has been rerunning earlier Season 27 episodes during breaks in new episodes, but “Got a Nut” has now been removed from the lineup.
The episode also included jabs at ICE.
Kirk received the South Park humor better than some other Trump supporters and the White House.
For over 30 years, South Park has developed a reputation for critiquing individuals across the political spectrum, and this season has heavily targeted the Trump team.
In the season premiere, Trump was depicted cavorting naked, interacting with Satan, and fretting about his anatomy. The premiere also alluded to the Epstein list, which allegedly contains names associated with the crimes of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. (Trump has urged the media and his supporters to focus less on Epstein and move on.)
Later episodes depicted Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem with a melting face, a dig at her image overhaul before joining the Trump Administration.
Additionally, the show aired a brief scene in which Noem enters a pet store with a gun—referencing a story from her memoir, No Going Back, where she recounted killing an “untrainable” dog named Cricket for misbehaving and attacking a local family's chickens.
“I hated that dog,” she wrote, claiming that putting Cricket down was a difficult but necessary task, using this incident to illustrate her readiness to tackle unpleasant responsibilities.
In response to South Park’s portrayal of her melting face, Noem commented on Glenn Beck’s podcast, saying, “It’s so lazy to just constantly make fun of women for how they look... If they wanted to criticize my job, go ahead. But clearly they can’t— they just pick something petty like that.”
Meanwhile, White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers stated that the show “hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention.”
Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have allowed the episodes to speak for themselves. When asked about the backlash at San Diego’s Comic-Con International, Parker simply responded, “We’re terribly sorry,” followed by a long, expressionless stare.
