Dynamite Entertainment is set to launch a new comic series based on Disney's The Lion King.
Dynamite Entertainment has revealed that it will be expanding its collection of Disney Comics this November with the debut of The Lion King, a new series created by writer and artist Edwin Galmon.
Set during the cherished times of the 1994 film, while Simba is still young and Scar has yet to gain power, this new series will explore the adventures of Mufasa and his young heir as they navigate the intricate relationships within their extensive kingdom. The ruler of the Pride Lands will teach his son how to protect their home from threats both external and internal that disrupt their peace and harmony.
Galmon expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “It is a humbling experience to have the honor and opportunity to work with the esteemed The Lion King franchise. This project brings together my childhood imagination and my adult craftsmanship, and I hope people enjoy the story we've crafted! As a child, my favorite moments from The Lion King movie were the scenes with Mufasa and Simba together, as I connected with the love and respect I have for my father. With that in mind, I wanted to incorporate more father-son bonding, loving guidance, playful moments, and mentorship themes for Simba to share with his dad.”
The Lion King #1 is scheduled to be released in November 2025.
