Graduates of Full Sail University have once again made a significant impact on television this year, with over 190 alumni credited on more than 170 projects nominated at the 77th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. These projects, covering 94 award categories, showcase the contributions of graduates from various programs, including Film, Recording Arts, and Entertainment Business.

More than a dozen alumni received nominations for their own Emmy awards. Notable nominees include Eric Kovtun, Executive Producer of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story (nominated for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series), John Pitron, Production Mixer on The Amazing Race (Outstanding Reality Competition Program), and Jeffrey Roy and Marc Fishman, who were part of the sound mixing team for The Last of Us (Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy Or Drama Series).

Additionally, other graduates nominated in the Outstanding Sound Mixing category include Jamison Rabbe (Production Mixer – The White Lotus), Patrick Christensen (ADR Mixer – The Bear), and Trino Madriz (ADR Mixer – Shrinking). In total, 13 alumni received individual nominations, contributing to shows like The Pitt, Love, Death, and Robots, and Secret Level.

Full Sail graduates played roles in notable series nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, including Andor, Paradise, and Severance, as well as in Outstanding Comedy Series nominees like Abbott Elementary and The Studio. Many of this year's acclaimed television projects featured Full Sail alumni in positions related to lighting, visual effects, sound editing, and beyond. Graduates also worked on nominees in other categories such as Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series (The Penguin, Black Mirror) and Outstanding Television Movie (The Gorge, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy).

Moreover, Full Sail grads contributed to a variety of projects across different genres, including animation, comedy, and unscripted series like Arcane, The Righteous Gemstones, What We Do In The Shadows, and Love is Blind, among others.

The level of industry presence achieved by Full Sail is attributed to its effective preparation of students for careers in the film and television sector.

“Full Sail’s distinctive, hands-on educational approach is designed to replicate real-world experiences,” explains Rick Ramsey, Full Sail’s Education Director of Visual Arts. Students work in facilities that simulate professional environments, with access to soundstages, high-quality cameras and lenses, a Hollywood-style backlot, a Dolby-certified dubbing stage, and a virtual production studio. “Our students utilize hardware and software endorsed by our Program Advisory Committee, and they engage in production days that adhere to industry norms, with 12-hour workdays.”

Networking also plays a crucial role in the student experience. Full Sail frequently hosts professional productions, including recent collaborations with WWE’s Raw Classics, Orlando City Soccer, and Coca-Cola. Students participate in collaborative projects across different degree programs, working together on initiatives like virtual production shoots where 3D Arts students design environments that film students prepare for use on set.

“This type of cross-platform networking allows students from diverse programs to see how their skills complement those of their peers, thus broadening post-graduation employment prospects,” adds Rick.

When combined with career readiness courses and ongoing career development services, these opportunities equip graduates with the skills and connections necessary to succeed in a competitive industry.
