Tatiana Maslany, the star of Disney+'s She-Hulk, is advocating for the cancellation of Disney+ following the removal of Kimmel.
Tatiana Maslany, the star of Disney+’s Marvel series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, was among Disney veterans urging fans to cancel their subscriptions to Disney-owned services Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN after ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel from the airwaves at the insistence of the Trump Administration.
“Cancel your @disneyplus @hulu @espn subscriptions!” the Canadian actress posted on Instagram.
She joined numerous Hollywood figures protesting the decision made by the company to “indefinitely” suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday following comments related to the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Damon Lindelof, co-creator of ABC’s acclaimed Lost, stated on Instagram that he would not collaborate with Disney unless Kimmel's show returns.
“I was shocked, saddened, and enraged by yesterday’s suspension and hope to see it lifted soon. If not, I cannot work for a company that enacted this,” he expressed on Thursday.
The backlash is not solely about Kimmel; it also pertains to the principle that the government should not be able to restrict speech it disagrees with.
Amy Landecker, recognized for her roles in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, posted a screenshot of the cancellation page from her Disney+ account.
The box office tracking firm Exhibitor Relations shared a message titled “Protest Playbook: Save Jimmy Kimmel,” urging fans to cancel Disney+ and explain, “I’m canceling because Jimmy Kimmel was removed.” They also provided an email address for Disney CEO Bob Iger.
“The bottom line: Companies like Disney only react when there’s economic pressure and negative PR. An organized, vocal campaign gives them a reason to change course,” Exhibitor Relations wrote.
Disney representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the cancellation calls or whether they have observed an increase in cancellations.
The calls for canceling Disney+ follow objections to Kimmel’s suspension from former President Obama, various celebrities, and the Hollywood unions SAG-AFTRA and the WGA, among others.
In his Thursday night monologue, Stephen Colbert, Kimmel's fellow late-night host, labeled Kimmel’s suspension as “blatant censorship.”
Colbert himself faced the cancellation of his CBS show at the end of its current season after he criticized Trump and Paramount, CBS's parent company.

**Background on Jimmy Kimmel's Suspension**
Brendan Carr, appointed by Trump as chair of the Federal Communications Commission, warned on Wednesday that the FCC may take action against Disney-owned ABC, stating on a podcast, “These companies can change their conduct and take action against Kimmel, or there will be additional work for the FCC ahead.”
He also called for ABC’s network affiliates to state, “Listen, we will not air Kimmel anymore until you resolve this.”
Shortly thereafter, Nexstar, needing FCC approval for a planned $6.2 billion acquisition of a rival, announced they would preempt Kimmel’s show. Sinclair, which also owns ABC affiliate stations, indicated it would stop airing Kimmel’s show as well and suggested Kimmel apologize and “make a meaningful personal donation” to Kirk’s family and his conservative activist group, Turning Point USA. (Sinclair later announced they would air a tribute to Kirk during Kimmel’s time slot on Friday.)
Late Wednesday, ABC declared it would “indefinitely” suspend Kimmel’s show.
President Trump commended the action and called on other networks to cancel their late-night shows.
“Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what needed to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible. That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also terrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT” he posted on Truth Social.
**What Jimmy Kimmel Said About Charlie Kirk**
Kimmel has long been a critic of Trump, often mocking the Republican, including during the 2024 Oscars.
In his opening monologue on Monday night, Kimmel suggested that Tyler Robinson, the suspect in Kirk’s murder last week, was linked to the pro-Trump MAGA movement.
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to portray this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to gain political leverage from it,” Kimmel stated.
Kimmel’s remarks can be found starting at the 1:30 mark in the linked video.
The Daily Mail reported Robinson’s grandmother mentioned “most of my family members are Republican.” However, CNN noted that prosecutors claimed Robinson’s mother explained that over the past year, Robinson had become more politically active and had started leaning more leftward—becoming more supportive of gay and trans rights.
