Although the production of the Highlander reboot is postponed due to Henry Cavill's injury during training, filming is set to commence in early 2026, and a new cast member has been revealed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, renowned actor Jeremy Irons will portray a villain opposite Cavill’s Connor MacLeod.

Highlander centers around a group of immortal beings engaged in a battle prior to the Gathering, where ultimately, only one will survive and claim a mysterious Prize. Irons will play a secondary antagonist as the leader of a secret organization known as The Watchers, who monitor the immortals and perceive them as a threat to humanity. He joins a cast that features Russell Crowe as Connor’s mentor Ramirez and Dave Bautista as the primary villain The Kurgan, an immortal warrior who confronts Connor over several centuries.

Some of the notorious characters he has portrayed include Scar in The Lion King, Simon in Die Hard with a Vengeance, the twins Elliot and Beverly in Dead Ringers, and more recently, Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias in HBO’s Watchmen series.

Highlander is being directed by Chad Stahelski of John Wick fame, from a screenplay by Michael Finch. The cast also includes Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, and WWE star Drew McIntyre.
