In a new adventure of Doctor Who, the War Master pulls off his most impressive trick.
Big Finish Productions has launched The Worlds of Doctor Who – The War Master: His Greatest Trick, a new audio drama box set featuring the War Master. Sir Derek Jacobi reprises his role as the Master from the Time War era in four fresh audio episodes, where he has finally reached his limit with the ongoing conflict.
Both the Time Lords and the Daleks are pursuing the escaping Master, yet he still relishes the chances to create some chaos. In these four new adventures, the Master brings disruption to an alien girls' school, a deep-space refugee camp, and a vessel of explorers from Ancient Gallifrey.
The box set begins with The Grievance Bureau by Lizzie Hopley, where the Master faces repercussions for a minor offense. With both the Time Lords and Daleks eager to erase him from existence, can they unite to dispose of a shared adversary? As the trial unfolds, it becomes evident that the Master’s misdeed may be more serious than initially perceived.
In Last Girl Standing by Katharine Armitage, the Master is concealing his identity as the ‘Head Master’ (a clever play on words) of an elite school for alien girls. However, when a skeptical teacher confronts him, he resorts to concocting a twisted competition for the Head Girl position, where only one can emerge as the victor.
The Worst of All Evils by Ian Winterton finds the Master’s TARDIS damaged by Daleks, landing him at Horoka, the center of Earth's Empire's transmat network and the location of a refugee camp. After being taken to the hospital by the optimistic activist Carla Zheng, the Master quickly creates disturbances for the camp.
Lastly, in The Blue Shift Ritual by Adam Christopher, the Master is once again on the run from both factions of the Time War. When he stumbles upon a malfunctioning time capsule carrying a crew from Ancient Gallifrey, he seizes the chance to use their mission to the famed planet Arkheparas to stop the Cult of the Infinite from activating their colossal Engine as a means of escape.
Joining Sir Derek Jacobi are Bethany Antonia (House of Dragon), Laura Aikman (Gavin & Stacey), Sèverine Howell-Meri (Hanna), Sophie Shad (Grange Hill), Darragh Cowley (Masters of the Air), along with Ben Arogundade, Elizabeth Hollingshead, Jessica Dennis, Isabelle Farah, Sapphire Joy, Quanna Luo Masterson, Richard Reed, Andrew James Spooner, Lizzie Hopley, and Sarah Whitehouse.
The Worlds of Doctor Who – The War Master: His Greatest Trick is currently available for £24.99 for the download, or £30.99 for the download along with a limited collector’s edition box set.
