Exclusive Trailer for Towards the Light, Set to Premiere at DocLisboa, Offers an Intimate Chronicle of Exile

A few years back at DocLisboa, we highlighted I Saw, which features exiled Russian filmmaker Vadim Kostrov reflecting on a simple day. This year, the director is returning to the festival, where his newest film, Towards the Light, will have its world premiere today as part of the International Competition. In anticipation of the premiere, we are excited to exclusively unveil the first trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: “Filmed on Mini DV and primarily in Paris, Towards the Light serves as a personal diary of exile. Through visuals of light, landscapes, and memories, the film encapsulates a year (2023) of introspective solitude in exile for Russian filmmaker Vadim Kostrov and his wife, artist Natasha Goncharova. It is a poetic reflection on displacement, loss, and the quest for light amid darkness.”
