George Clooney and Annette Bening are set to star in a memoir adaptation centered around love.

      George Clooney and Annette Bening are set to star in Paul Weitz’s upcoming film In Love, which is based on author Amy Bloom’s memoir.

      In Love is described as “an insightful, contemporary love story centered around two individuals who face an impossible decision that reflects their profound commitment to one another.” The film draws from Bloom’s In Love: A Memoir of Love and Loss, which recounts her marriage following her husband’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis. This journey culminated in a decision for her husband to end his life on his own terms, as they traveled to a facility in Switzerland that permitted him to do so.

      Weitz collaborated with Bloom to write the screenplay, while he and Andrew Miano will produce through their company Depth of Field. Clooney will also serve as a producer through Smokehouse Pictures, alongside Grant Heslov. Eddie Vaisman and Julie Lebedev have developed and are producing the film for Sight Unseen, and Sébastien Raybaud will produce for Anton, which is financing the project and managing international rights.

      “Amy’s memoir is a modern fable about love, humor, and existential dilemmas,” Weitz remarked. “I’m eager to bring this story to life with such an incredible cast.”

      “I feel fortunate to have collaborated with Eddie and Julie, to have written with Paul, and to see this tale of enduring love brought to the screen in Paul’s talented hands, featuring two of America’s greatest actors,” Bloom expressed.

      Clooney is set to appear in Jay Kelly alongside Adam Sandler, with the film having a limited theatrical release starting November 15 and premiering on Netflix on December 5. Bening will next star in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Frankenstein-inspired film The Bride and is part of the Yellowstone spin-off series The Dutton Ranch alongside original cast members Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly.
