Indie developer House 16 Software has revealed that their first game, ORMOD: Directive, is set to launch on Steam in early 2026. This challenging open-world survival sandbox immerses players in a universe ruled by hostile machines, where they must scavenge, craft, and fight. Check out the trailer below…
This post-apocalyptic sandbox merges traditional survival gameplay with automation, base-building, and realistic combat, all within a world that perpetually evolves. Even when players are offline, the world will continue to advance.
Each playthrough will create a unique and customizable environment, featuring a variety of procedurally generated towns, roads, buildings, terrains, and landmarks. Players will have the freedom to survive in a world shaped by their own playstyle and difficulty preferences.
The environment is perilous, with the threat of the ORMOD steadily and quietly advancing. Mechanoids will prowl at night, hunting players, so building a versatile base for defense against them and other players in PvE servers is essential. These bases utilize a flexible tile-based construction system that is unique to this game.
A broad array of weapons and equipment can be discovered and modified by players, along with various vehicles, including cars and helicopters, that can be repaired for traversing the map.
Moreover, the world will occasionally introduce significant encounters, like helicopter crashes, airdrops, or PvP events, which offer both great opportunities and significant risks.
Stay tuned for the release of ORMOD: Directive on Steam for PC in early 2026.
