Universal Pictures has unveiled a trailer for director Aneil Karia’s (The Long Goodbye) contemporary adaptation of William Shakespeare's classic play, Hamlet.
Riz Ahmed takes on the lead role as a man who returns to London for his father's funeral. However, when the spirit of his deceased father appears, revealing he was killed by his brother Claudius, Hamlet embarks on a violent quest for revenge.
Also featuring in the cast are Morfydd Clark, Joe Alwyn, Sheeba Chaddha, Art Malik, and Timothy Spall. Check out the trailer below...
This dynamic reimagining of Shakespeare’s Hamlet unfolds within a British South Asian family in modern-day London. Hamlet (Riz Ahmed) comes back to London for his father's funeral, only to be stunned when his uncle, Claudius, announces his intention to marry Hamlet’s recently widowed mother.
After encountering his father's ghost, who claims he was murdered by Claudius, Hamlet becomes engulfed in fury and vengeance. He resorts to extreme measures to avenge his father's death, raising questions about his role in the family business and his own mental state.
Hamlet is set to hit theaters on February 6th.
