For Elisa Maza, December brings a mix of emotions. She enjoys the snowy streets of New York City and the vibrancy of the holiday season, plus having a Gargoyle boyfriend who takes her soaring above the skyscrapers to view the festive lights is a delightful bonus.
However, the month also prompts memories of an unresolved mystery from her first year as a detective—an perplexing break-in that involved strange clues, a missing family heirloom, and vague sightings of a lumbering “creature” that was only glimpsed in the shadows. On an icy winter night, she shares with Goliath that the inability to solve the case still weighs on her mind, even after all these years.
That’s all it takes for Broadway to overhear and decide to put on his private eye trench coat to reopen the investigation, joined, of course, by Bronx and his bull terrier companion, Lance!
Co-written by Gargoyles creator Greg Weisman and Nate Cosby, with illustrations by George Kambadais, this 40-page one-shot reveals a cold new chapter in the tale of the Stone Guardians, adorned with frosty covers by George Kambadais, Jae Lee, Roger Langridge, and Alessandro Ranaldi.
